Kit for converting an L16 (L4) 4-cylinder over to 240Z (L6) alternator, water pump and balancer. The L16 has a different offset of the pulleys than Z car 6-cylinder engines, so you cannot directly swap a water pump, balancer or alternator from a 240Z over to an L16, although they will physically bolt up fine, the pulleys will not line up. We have created this kit to utilize more available and upgraded 240Z parts on your L16 while gaining a higher amp alternator and gain some power from removing parasitic loses.
This kit uses our PT# 800-044 balancer, stock 240Z water pump and 60 amp (510 uses 40 amp) 240Z alternator. Using this balancer on our L16 we were able to reduce engine vibration at mid range RPM and it also runs about 17% underdriven from the stock L16 balancer which can free up some power. This kit uses a stock 240Z water pump pulley (you source) or we have options of a new stock pulley or a new billet aluminum pulley.
This kit will involve removing the stock fan/fan clutch (no more noisey fan!) and using an electric fan. Removal of the manual fan can also free up some horsepower. We offer a fan option that will fit most 510 radiators and provide enough flow to cool the engine, without a shroud.
This kit retains your stock voltage regulator.
